Rate and White Sox Announce Virtual Race Series This Summer
From MLB News
CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox announced that registration for a new virtual race series, Run Your Sox Off, presented by Rate, one of the largest retail lenders in the nation, is now open at whitesox.com/soxrun.
The four-day series, scheduled to begin Thursday, August 6 and run through Sunday, August 9, is the latest White Sox initiative inviting fans to engage with the team from home. Registration is $40 and participants can choose one of three options – a 1-mile, 5K or 10K distance – to be completed on a route of their choosing at any time during the four-day race day window.
Fans are encouraged to post photos of themselves in White Sox gear and connect with the team using the hashtag #RunYourSoxOff on social media. Upon sign-up, participants also will receive an exclusive White Sox Home Run Chain, a limited-edition Change the Game flag, a White Sox bandana and a virtual finisher’s certificate to commemorate the feat.
Run Your Sox Off will make the miles count, with net proceeds benefiting Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) and Rate Foundation, which both provide financial, in-kind and emotional support to those facing extraordinary hardships.
The Rate Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that provides funds directly to individuals and families in dire need throughout the country.
“We are proud to partner with the Chicago White Sox and support our shared community,” said Rate Chief Marketing Officer, Steve Moffat. “We’re big believers in working together to accomplish a goal, especially when that goal is helping those who need a hand.”
As the White Sox 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CWSC works tirelessly to lift up those most in need throughout the Chicagoland area. With the help of partners like Rate, CWSC raises funds to promote youth education and advancement, share the love of the game through youth baseball initiatives, assist children and families in crisis and champion those battling cancer. Since its inception in 1990, CWSC has donated more than $32 million to non-profit organizations across the city and surrounding areas.
“We are proud to stand alongside our partners at Rate, an organization that shares our commitment to making Chicago a better place to live, work and play beyond the diamond,” explains Christine O’Reilly, White Sox vice president of community relations and executive director of White Sox Charities. “Run Your Sox Off will be an incredible opportunity to connect with fans, all while raising funds that help drive positive change in the community.”
